Administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency

Lee Zeldin, the current Administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency under President Donald J. Trump, was born in East Meadow, New York, in 1980 and raised in Suffolk County on Long Island. He earned his bachelor’s degree from SUNY Albany and his law degree from Albany Law School. Zeldin served as a military intelligence officer in the U.S. Army, including active duty, and later continued his service in the Army Reserve. Before entering public office, he practiced law and operated a small business, bringing practical experience to his later roles in state and federal government.

  • The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) was established in 1970 to consolidate federal research, monitoring, standard-setting, and enforcement activities to ensure environmental protection as a function of the Executive Branch.
  • The EPA Administrator is responsible for enforcing the nation’s environmental laws, managing programs that oversee air and water quality, and advancing sustainable practices in industries across the country.
  • Under Administrator Zeldin’s leadership, the EPA focuses on common-sense regulation, efficient enforcement, and innovation that ensures clean air and water while supporting job growth and energy independence for American families.
