The RNC was founded in 170 years ago, in June of 1856, two years after the organization of the modern Republican Party, to aid in the presidential campaign of John C. Frémont.
The committee was originally composed of one person from each state. After the passage of the Nineteenth Amendment in 1920, the rules were changed to include one man and one woman.
The Republican National Committee (RNC) is the formal governing body of the Republican Party. It is responsible for developing the party's political platform, fundraising, and supporting candidates running for office across the country. The RNC also coordinates the Republican National Convention and works to engage voters at the national, state, and local levels.
The Republican Party was founded in 1854 with a mission to oppose the expansion of slavery and to promote liberty. Its legacy is rooted in the defense of freedom, individual rights, and national unity.
Today, that legacy calls on every American to stand up for enduring values and principles that make this nation strong and resilient.
