James David Vance

Forty-one years ago today, J.D. Vance was born on August 2, 1984, in Middletown, Ohio. He grew up in a working-class family, facing challenges that would later shape his perspectives. After serving in the Marine Corps, Vance pursued higher education, earning a degree from Ohio State University and a law degree from Yale Law School.

Initially serving as a corporate lawyer, Vance ventured into business, investing in startups across the Midwest. Before entering politics, he authored the best-selling memoir "Hillbilly Elegy," which shed light on the struggles of America's working class. The book's success led to a film adaptation, further amplifying his voice on socio-economic issues.

As a U.S. Senator from Ohio, Vance focused on economic reform and national security, aligning with populist conservative values. Now, as Vice President, he plans to advocate for policies that bolster the middle class, enhance national security, and promote technological innovation.

  • Vance founded Narya Capital, a venture capital firm investing in Midwest startups.
  • "Hillbilly Elegy" explores the challenges of the working-class in Appalachia.
  • As a Senator, Vance championed economic reforms and national security measures.
