Lewis & Clark, American Heroes

Meriwether Lewis and William Clark led one of the most extraordinary expeditions in American history. Commissioned by President Thomas Jefferson in 1803, their mission was to explore the vast territory acquired through the Louisiana Purchase. Over two years, the Corps of Discovery traveled from St. Louis to the Pacific Ocean, charting unknown lands and opening the door to the West.

The Lewis and Clark Expedition produced invaluable maps, scientific observations, and diplomatic relations with Native American tribes. Their journey helped define America’s western frontier and demonstrated the young nation’s spirit of exploration and perseverance. The success of their mission greatly expanded America’s knowledge of its natural resources and geography, paving the way for westward growth and development.
