Ron DeSantis

Ron DeSantis was born 47 years ago today, on September 14, 1978, in Jacksonville, Florida. He graduated with honors from Yale University and later earned his law degree from Harvard Law School. Before entering politics, DeSantis served as a Judge Advocate General (JAG) officer in the U.S. Navy and later as a federal prosecutor and U.S. Congressman representing Florida’s 6th district.

As Governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis has prioritized economic freedom, educational reform, and personal liberty. He has overseen historic expansions in school choice, protected small businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic, and invested in infrastructure and environmental conservation. His leadership has drawn national attention for its results-driven and constitutionally grounded approach.

  • In the 2022 gubernatorial election, DeSantis won re-election with 59.4% of the vote, securing over 4.6 million votes—one of the largest margins in Florida history.
  • Florida maintains no state income tax, and under DeSantis’s leadership, the state operated with strong fiscal accountability, achieving a record $22 billion budget surplus in 2023.
  • Ron DeSantis is currently serving his second term as governor, which ends in January 2027; Florida’s constitution does not permit him to run for a third consecutive term.
