United States Space Force

The United States Space Force is the sixth and newest branch of the U.S. Armed Forces, established on December 20, 2019. It was created under the leadership of President Donald Trump to ensure American security and leadership in space. As part of the Department of the Air Force, the Space Force is focused on organizing, training, and equipping military space operations.

The Space Force operates its own network of satellite constellations that support communications, GPS, surveillance, and navigation. It also plays a key role in tracking space debris and monitoring the growing number of orbiting objects that could threaten vital systems. Notably, it maintains a strategic global presence with installations including the Space Force base in Pituffik, Greenland.

  • Its members are called "Guardians," a name chosen to symbolize their role in protecting space operations.
  • The Space Force’s official logo and motto, Semper Supra” (“Always Above”), reflect its mission to defend American interests beyond Earth.
  • Despite being high-tech and futuristic, the Space Force uniforms include traditional military elements like dark navy blue and silver trim.
